Napier Newsletter - Edition 4

Welcome to our 4th Newsletter we hope you enjoy reading them and would love some feedback. It’s been a while since our last one – we have been busy travelling!

We love to travel – who’s been where?

Maureen Halbert

Our family trip covered a few places we know very well and some great new spots too! We used trains and planes to get between London-Paris-Frankfurt-Berlin-Split-Rome. We stopped in Singapore going and on the return all up for a week, totally worth it as it offers tons for foodies, families, relaxation, luxury, shoppers and culturally very interesting too.

It would be hard to pick an outright favourite, having been to Rome twice and Paris 5 times now and living in London, they are still really special. Split was outstanding and some great learning for us all in this newly formed country on its war torn history. We would go back easily, but we could say that about everywhere we went.

Top Tips:

  • Highly recommend a walking tour of any city, but in Berlin, Split and Rome we did these with locals who want you to understand why their home is special, an excellent way to get your bearings too.
  • Go with some local lingo! Don’t be shy to speak your best French, German and Italian – go with manners. Our kids picked a few phrases and were all smiles when people responded with a smile.
  • Do it the best way that suits your style of travel too. We like a bit of comfort with day tours and a few excursions included, but we like to discover things along the way also.
  • Make sure to leave some time for relaxation too, a late start one day will do you wonders!

China and Thailand are next…

Cynthia Dorsey-Jackson

Cynthis is off to China and will have some tips for our next edition.

Danielle Caldwell

Danielle has been to Argentina where besides tangoing in Buenos Aires, following the route of the famous train to the clouds she also crossed the salt flats a highlight of her trip. She also had a relaxing holiday in Port Douglas and Cairns.

Top Tip: the food was amazing in Argentina and you must try on of their famous steaks.

Viv Blackmore

Viv had a short stay in Japan before the managers conference she did a basic Intrepid trip. It was a great way to see some of Japan and very cost effective. She loved the bullet trains fast easy and a great way to get from A to B. In Turkey she marvelled at the historical buildings then she had a relaxing time on 2 of the lessor known Greek islands Milos and Folegandros both absolutely stunning.

Top Tips:

  • Japan - if you are going to Nikko do buy the Nikko all Area Pass good on all the local buses and trains.
  • Turkey - take a guided tour. Our guide had a double history degree and was wonderful.
